Our Story

When Dr. Morris graduated from training in 2003, she recognized the need for evidence based, cost-effective integrated mental health in Oklahoma. She founded the clinic in an effort to provide private insurance-supported cutting edge treatment to the state that put her through medical school. As we have grown, we have had the opportunity to provide additional services, such as interventional psychiatry (rTMS and Spravato) as well as location based therapists for continuity of care. Our practice is set apart by our dedication to innovative treatments, collaborative care with primary care and specialists, and a commitment to bring the latest advances in psychiatric treatment to our community.

Weight Management

Psychiatric illnesses and many psychiatric medicines are associated with weight gain. In addition, being overweight is associated with worsening of psychiatric illnesses. Weight management recognizes the multifactorial contributors to navigating weight-related health concerns.

Edmond psychiatric associates offer weight management for existing patients who have weight concerns and meet the American Board of Obesity Medicine weight management guidelines. We are able to offer medical intervention to those with a BMI of at least 30, or at least 27 with a weight-related comorbidity. In addition, we are able to offer weight modification recommendations to appropriate patients with BMIs falling outside these criteria. We utilize evidence-based medicine interventions and lifestyle recommendations, including GLP medicines, nutrition and exercise recommendations, and relevant evaluations and referrals.

Addiction Medicine

Edmond psychiatry offers addiction treatment, including medicine management for those struggling with opiate, benzodiazepine, alcohol, kratom, 7-OH, and other concerns. We offer outpatient alcohol detox for appropriate patients, and assist with inpatient referrals when warranted. We also offer vivitrol, naltrexone, buprenorphine (e.g. suboxone), sublocade (buprenorphine shot), and acamprosate. We also offer medicine management of psychiatric comorbidities, and collaboration with appropriate team members, such as addiction therapists and primary care providers. Our addiction treatment is founded on ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) principles, and guided by a board-certified addiction physician.

Medicine Management

Medicine management at Edmond Psychiatric Associates recognizes the interface between medical and psychiatric medical concerns. We offer expert psychiatric pharmacotherapy with recognition of the “whole person.” With 43 cumulative years experience in psychopharmacology, we bring expertise to the table in diagnosing and formulating personalized, comprehensive treatment plans.

With onsite lab, access to pharmacogenetic testing, and close relationships with specialists, we are able to provide integrated care to navigate medicine management in the context of other, potentially complicated medical concerns. We are able to assist those who are meeting with a mental health professionals for the first time and starting this journey, those requiring optimization of current medicines, and those who need a second opinion when things aren’t working as well as they might. We offer cutting edge, evidence-based medicine management via a hybrid of in person and telemedicine appointments to meet your specific needs.

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)

Edmond Psychiatric Associates pioneered rTMS in Oklahoma. We offer rTMS for depression as well as OCD, including a one-day rTMS protocol for major depression. We also offer rTMS intervention for substance misuse, as well as peripheral neuropathy relief. rTMS is an ideal intervention for those who have not had success with antidepressants, either due to lack of effectiveness or due to side effects.

rTMS offers an interventional treatment option for those who don’t want to commit to the maintenance requirements of Spravato or ketamine. Insurance frequently offers coverage for treatment for Major depression and OCD.
